| Background |
I'm originally from Washington D.C. but have lived up and down the California coast for
over ten years. I have worked in the veterinary medical field for over seventeen years,
and love animals of all kinds. I'm currently in my third year of tattooing.
I studied illustration at the California College of Arts and Crafts with a focus on painting and drawing, but developed interests in sculpture and metalsmithing as well. Besides tattooing I also currently work in acrylics, oils and watercolors. My artwork has a tendency towards the dark and humorous and my tattoo interests lean towards the macabre as well. My many years of experience in the surgical field of veterinary medicine often shine through my art in the form of blood splatter and bone or anatomical reference. Being infinitely fascinated by insects I sometimes spend more than a few hours a week looking through field identification guides. My favorite styles of tattooing are traditional American and Japanese tattooing, with a particular fondness for elaborate stylized script. |

| Process | I prefer to do custom work but am always open to doing a walk-in. If time permits we can start with a consultation to which you bring in as many reference materials as possible. During the consultation we will discuss in as much detail as we can what you are envisioning your tattoo to be. I will do a few sketches with you, and then I will send you away while I retreat to my dungeon to draw for about a week. Then I will either call you back into the studio or email you a copy of the drawing for your approval. If you are happy, we'll schedule the tattoo appointment. If you are not happy with the drawing, I will work on it until you are. Communication is key to getting the tattoo that you really want, so don't be shy with questions or concerns. Tell me everything! Favorite colors, personal significance, life story - it all helps to personalize your tattoo. I'll never give you attitude for making changes, but will tell you if I think something won't work as a tattoo. I currently charge $140 per hour with a $60 minimum and require a $60 deposit. | |
